Roger Davis FEAA
Roger Davis Logo If it's a good laugh you're after, then go and see Roger Davis! I don't mean that in a derogatory way, because Roger has built up a thriving agency business specializing in laughter makers - comedians. His slogan declares "The one stop comedy shop"! Representing a host of comedians and after dinner speakers, his most popular, Johnnie Casson must be one of the funniest men in the U.K. and much in demand. Working alongside Roger is son Mark, looking after the sales & marketing, secretary Heather and Margaret supervising accounts. As with most good agents, Roger has had a lifetime steeped in the entertainment business, starting out as a guitarist in 1960 with Bradford based band "The Chessmen". Following a stint in Germany from 1962 to 1964, Roger came back to the U.K. to do 2 years acting before joining the band "Yorkshire Relish" in '67. They eventually became "Simplicity" who many may remember provided the theme music for Hughie Green's "The Sky's the Limit".
Roger started out his career in the entertainment agency business working in the MAP agency, which was based at the world famous "Batley Variety Club" - virtually the hub of the entertainment scene in the North at that time. He was working alongside many well known agency names of today, who at that time were just starting out themselves.
Claude Hunter, John Wagstaff now "Smokie" and "Black Lace" manager, Al Crossland (now of the Al Crossland Agency in Leeds) and Bill and Barbara Bastow (now running the MAP Agency in Knottingley, West Yorkshire). It was after many years with the MAP agency as club booker that Roger then moved to the Dave Simpson agency in Bradford, as office manager. This agency used to specialize in Comedy Acts and Comedians, and formulation of Roger's present agency business was beginning to take shape.
After gaining a wealth of experience in the comedy scene Roger finally set up his own agency, Roger Davis Associates, specializing not only in comedy, but also after dinner speakers, who go hand in hand with comedy. Supplying star names and sports personalities is a major part of the agency's business, and Roger supplies comedians to many well know television companies. Apart from representing Johnnie Casson, Crissy Rock and many other local favourites, Roger has many well known and prestigious names on his books. Frank Carson, Norman Collier, Jim Bowen, and Bobby Ball, to mention a few. After dinner speakers include  former Judge Pickles, Cynthia Payne, Henry Cooper, Nobby Stiles, Tommy Docherty, John Conteh and Jimmy Greaves. Just a small selection of crowd pulling attractions available from Roger Davis.
