John
Cugley
John took a music scholarship to read law at Oxford University and still remains a member of "Blandorum", the 1920's Oxbridge Dining Club.
He read for the Bar and became a member of Middle Temple, one of the Inns of Court in London. John later qualified as a solicitor but still continually practiced as an advocate, both prosecuting and defending, or as he puts it "spending most of my time on my hind legs".
Despite a hectic schedule, he has been a corporate lawyer since 1991 and now acts as Legal Advisor to one of the UK's top 50 PLC's., John still teaches music and also advises on antique furniture, in addition to his fundamental obsession with the world of rowing.
As a former advocate John has an eloquent gift as a wonderful raconteur, after dinner speaker and compere. His speed of wit - Clive Anderson with a dash of Terry Thomas, is matched by a deep mahogany voice.
John's forte is the conference and company circuit, where, although appearing as spontaneous humour, each gag and anecdote is carefully timed with each appearance being prepared as if it were a court case, with detailed research on the organization and the relevant personnel.
