Mug shot of Crissy RockCRISSY ROCK - INTERNATIONAL STAR

Fast becoming one of Britain's most talked about comediennes life is starting to move at a hectic pace for Crissy Rock. Starting as a 'stand-up' comedienne in the late 80's, mainly for fun, Crissy soon realised that she had a talent for making people laugh, a talent that was also spotted by BOB MONKHOUSE, when Crissy appeared nation-wide on the BBC Television show "Bob Says Opportunity Knocks". Although Crissy was given the highest marks for any comedy act on the series, she still failed to win her heat, however Bob made the following quote;"This girl has something that is a gift to comics - deep inside Crissy has the sheer instinctive art of timing. She had me in stitches and I've got a hunch she'll become one of our top women comics"
How right he was. In 1991, following a period of ill health, Crissy
bounced back, taking bookings on the pub & club circuit. Within months
she was voted runner up in the "Club Comedian of the Year" competition for
the Merseyside area. 1992 saw her introduction to Blackpool, she was an instant
success. By 1993 her notoriety was spreading to other parts of the country
with demand out-pacing the amount of available dates. Be it Blackpool, Newcastle,
Birmingham, Leeds, Sheffield, South Wales, London or her native north-west
you can guarantee Crissy has a following. By 1994 Crissy was bill-topping
at the Central Pier and the famed Blackpool Tower.
Being chosen by Ken Loach to star in his latest film was, to Crissy, 'just another booking' which she approached with her usual 100% commitment, but following the first screening of "Ladybird, Ladybird" it was soon realised that this was to be the start of a new career. 1994 turned out to be a big year for Crissy.
