| For almost a quarter of a century JOHN BOYD has entertained listeners
to both Commercial Radio and the BBC with his lively sports commentaries
and interviews, most recently he has become the "housewives choice"
on his Mid Morning Show on BBC Radio Leeds. He was also selected by BBC Look
North specifically for his ability to transmit sports information in the
Saturday live bulletin. His unique selling point though came about by accident when he tired of reading out the greyhound results and interspersing them with music one Saturday afternoon when frost and snow had wiped out all other sports activities. He challenged the listeners to test his sports knowledge by ringing in and asking him any question they liked on any sporting subject. If he failed to answer correctly he then turned the tables and asked the listener a question and thus was the "EACH WAY BET" born. The listeners must have been as bored as Boydy was because they responded in their droves guaranteeing that this was a quiz that was here to stay. He has since performed this quiz in front of a live audience on many occasions and it never fails to please as John mixes the Quiz with a lot of fun moving as he does out amongst the audience. He can either do the Quiz as part of his duties as Master of Ceremonies or weave it into his own after dinner speech. His past credits include working for a host of top companies including John Smiths Brewery, Wm.Youngers, Leeds City Council, Leeds United, Leeds Rhinos, Halifax Town, Halifax Rugby League Club and many more. He has also worked alongside some of the great names in sport including four time Olympic Gold medalist Sir Matthew Pinsent, Freddie Trueman OBE, Mike Gatting, Lawrence Dallaglio, Gordon Banks and the inimitable Sir Garfield Sobers. Apart from Radio and TV presentation John also worked for a period as the Rugby Football Leagues Stadium Announcer travelling the British Isles with his microphone. Where John really shines is when he has the chance to bring out the best in both the Speaker and the Audience when acting as host or when prompting the guests in a Q&A session such as "An Evening With". He is available to work both lunch and evenings and to either a male audience or a mixed one. He is always willing to travel and will always be correctly dressed for the occasion. |

| Wilf Paish MBE, the famous olympic coach, made this statement, “In radio broadcasting terms John Boyd is a "natural", he is the equivalent in broadcasting of our gold medallist. No amount of training, study, reading can "hope to turn a carthorse into a grand national winner!" | ||
| Regarded by his many listeners as the best Rugby League and Sports Presenter on any Radio Station, "an icon" as one newspaper described him. |
